‘How much wilderness will Denmark have in the future?’ was the question raised by DN. In order to spark discussion around the topic, a VR experience was created, where people could get surrounded by wilderness, as nature would probably look like if we allowed it.
The VR experience was built for the HTC Vive that was placed inside of a container that traveled around Denmark, bringing the discussion of biodiversity conservation closer to the local communities. In order to make the virtual experience more realistic, real-life props were added, allowing people to physically touch natural elements that appeared in the virtual experience.
Later in 2019, the experience was optimized to be played on an Oculus Go, making it easier for Danmarks Naturfredningsforening employees and volunteers to take the experience to schools.
