The campaign for dignified elderly care aimed to make the issue a central political and public concern in Denmark. In 2021, the “Dignified Elderly Care NOW” campaign highlighted the harsh realities of elderly care—unstable staffing, lack of resources, and poor hygiene—through vivid, relatable visuals like “My home is a train station, prison, or pigsty.” It activated the elderly, their families, and caregivers to create a ripple effect that reached the wider public and political decision-makers. In 2022, an interactive “escape room” allowed politicians to experience the challenges of home care firsthand, supported by media and social outreach. The campaigns successfully raised the profile of dignified elderly care, making it a top political issue, integrating it into government priorities, and earning recognition at the 2023 European Excellence Awards.
