Eva & Jonas
Eva and Jonas actually had completely different plans when they decided to take over their parents' farm a few years ago. Jonas was traveling abroad and at the end of her studies Eva was faced with the question of where she would go next. But when their father was out for health reasons, it quickly became clear to the siblings: the old home would also be the new one. Today they run the family farm and the old castle that belongs to it together with their parents - and are completely immersed in their somewhat unusual lifestyle. Even if they have their hands full: looking after animals, cultivating fields, looking after holiday guests and always making repairs. But neither of them ever regretted their decision. It's a great privilege to have such a beautiful place and to be able to continue running the farm , says Jonas. Along with this privilege, the siblings have also taken on a great responsibility. Our father inherited the castle from his father and with it a lot of debts. That's why we've always been rather "atypical" castle owners , explains Eva with a laugh. The two see their fate at Aktion Mensch as an opportunity to actually realize their shared dream. Because even if they didn't want to exchange their life on the family estate for anything, financial worries are not uncommon. There is always something to do. In addition to the daily tasks on and around the farm, there is a long list of things that need to be done sooner or later. "On a farm there is always something to do everywhere. Taking that on was pretty difficult." For example, there is the roof, where areas need to be repaired from time to time. Or the old tractor that breaks down from time to time and that Jonas and his father have had to get running again several times.
