A Brush of Light
The word “photography” originates from the Greek roots φωτός (phōtos) meaning “light” and γραφή (graphé) meaning “representation by means of lines”, “drawing” or “painting”. The two words together essentially means “drawing with light” or “painting with light”. Thus, this series of fine art photographs represent the essence of photography: The canvas is the human body and the brush is made of light. This Fine Art photography series of aesthetically intriguing images, is an attempted to develop a new expression and interpretation of the human form that is intended to be both engaging and rewarding. The idea for this never before exhibited or published series of photographs dates back to 2012. But as Henrik Delfer didn’t have the facilities or studio space necessary, it was only as he moved into his current studio space, that he could begin thinking about creating the photographs he had previously only seen in his minds eye. Since then, it has taken him several years of refining his technique. More than 18.000 exposures, hundreds of models working hard to maintain a very specific pose, while he arranges the lights just perfect for each image, the work presented in this series represents the culmination of thousands of hours of work. The submitted photographs have all been created in the previous two years of working with this personal Fine Art project.
