Balloonerism Trailer
To honor the legacy of Mac Miller and support the official release of Balloonerism, Hornet and director Samuel Jerome Mason created a 24-minute animated film that brings the late artist’s themes to life. Streaming on Amazon Prime, the CG epic follows a group of school friends as they’re transported to a surreal shadow world where they face symbolic challenges—representing Mac’s reflections on innocence, self-sabotage, and the daunting path to adulthood. The narrative includes deep metaphorical visuals and references to Mac Miller’s life and Pittsburgh roots, including Blue Slide Park. Mason previously directed Mac’s “Colors and Shapes” video in 2021, and here continues the dark, emotional visual style. The project also included a 3D model of the album artwork turned into an AR filter.
