Never Happens All the Time
The Ad Council and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), in collaboration with Chemistry, have launched the “Never Happens” campaign to raise awareness about pediatric vehicular heatstroke. The campaign highlights how easily "never" can happen—reminding parents and caregivers to always "Stop. Look. Lock." before leaving their vehicle. With TV, radio, print, digital, and outdoor PSAs in English and Spanish, the campaign aims to prevent child hot car deaths, which have occurred in nearly every U.S. state. In 2023 alone, over 52% of cases involved a child forgotten in a car. The campaign stresses heatstroke risks even in mild temperatures and encourages locking vehicles and using reminders to ensure children’s safety.
