A year after introducing recyclable paper wrappers for Quality Street, consumers remained unclear about the transition's purpose. To address this, we launched a content-led campaign this Christmas, delivering the recycling message clearly to a multigenerational audience. This campaign, "Quality Street ‘Street (W)rappers’," successfully generated buzz across various media types, attracting 2.8 million new shoppers to the brand and achieving an 8.1% growth. The campaign cleverly brought the 'street' to Quality Street and the 'rap' to paper wrappers by producing a hero music video featuring England footballer and rap legend John Barnes. Drawing inspiration from iconic 90s rap songs, beloved carols, and the Gen-Z trend of subverting nostalgia, BCW and Stepping Stone Media created a Christmas-themed music track, rap, and video to communicate Quality Street's sustainability story and educate consumers about the new wrappers.
