Pim And Charlie Save Mother Nature
Open the Portal co-created a mixed-media sequence for Smiling Friends featuring a surreal blend of 2D animation and detailed stop-motion claymation, described as a “polish-meets-chaos” approach. The studio, known for combining 2D, CG, live action, and stop-motion across TV, music videos, and brand work, contributed a 7-minute segment in which clay-animated environmental elements and a monstrous Mother Nature interact with the show’s primarily 2D world. The collaboration showcased the studio’s signature handmade aesthetic and technical hybrid workflow, built on extensive pre-production and fabrication, and continues its broader work in animation for clients such as Adult Swim, Netflix, and Pixar while expanding toward long-form original film development.
