The calendar was a simple but well-executed tool to spark debate on the important social issues of workplace environment and inclusion, which are relevant for many people in Denmark—especially among the customer’s member companies. In “Come and Take Me – DOWN,” FRIDAY edited a classic pin-up calendar into workplace settings where it would be extremely out of place—such as with a childminder, a gynecologist, and a funeral director. The absurdity of these placements makes it clear that such a calendar has no place in any workplace, highlighting the fact that, even in Denmark in 2024, these calendars can still be found on the walls of many workshops, site trailers, and lunchrooms. This emphasizes the need for a healthier and more inclusive work culture, particularly within technical and trade professions. The campaign went viral and was covered in over 140 different media outlets, from Se & Hør to DR and TV2 Echo, and even Kristeligt Dagblad. At the same time, the campaign sparked intense debate across social media, and they have found that practically everyone understands what they are referring to when we mention "the nude calendar from TEKNIQ Employers." The campaign demonstrates that sometimes it only takes a simple yet powerful idea and a bold client willing to say "yes" to create meaningful social debate and a wealth of organic media coverage that money can’t buy. A survey from the spring of 2023 showed that nude calendars are displayed in 13 out of 20 of Denmark’s largest construction companies. They are also still found in many cafeterias and on other walls among TEKNIQ Employers’ 4,100 members. However, nude calendars do nothing positive for a modern work environment—especially in an industry that is crying out for more diversity and, more generally, labor. At the end of August, all association members received the campaign calendar along with an invitation to start a conversation about workplace culture—and to do a "clean-up" within their companies. TEKNIQ Employers’ nude calendar was also intended as a potential dialogue tool, allowing discussions both within individual companies and nationwide about whether—or why—it is acceptable to look at bare breasts while eating your liver paté sandwich at lunch.
