When Tinderbox, one of Denmark’s largest music festivals, partnered with FindLife, the goal was to address a universal festival frustration: losing track of friends in the crowd. Held annually in Odense’s Tusindårsskoven, Tinderbox hosts 50,000 daily guests, making it easy to become separated in the festival’s vibrant and sprawling environment. In 2024, FindLife launched its location-sharing app at Tinderbox, introducing precise real-time geolocation capabilities directly integrated into the festival’s official app. The tool allowed users to instantly locate their friends on a digital map—whether dancing at the main Panorama stage or relaxing at the Strandbaren—enhancing the festival experience with more connection and less confusion. The collaboration aimed to increase brand visibility and app signups for FindLife, while elevating the overall experience for festival-goers. A comprehensive marketing strategy was deployed across Tinderbox’s digital platforms, including its website, Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn. Visibility was further boosted through app-based notifications, geotargeted banners around the festival grounds, and QR codes displayed on main stage video screens. Additionally, on-site ambassadors assisted attendees with app installations, ensuring widespread awareness and usage. The app featured an interactive map of the festival site—not just a generic landscape view, but one customized with venues, bars, and stages. Users could control the duration and audience for their shared location, with options ranging from one minute to indefinite sharing, and could choose between friends-only or public visibility. Even when location sharing was disabled, users retained access to their own marker. GPS updates ran continuously in the background without compromising privacy, as no location history was stored post-session. Advanced algorithms ensured efficient battery use by interpreting movement patterns, adjusting update frequency based on whether users were stationary, walking, or cycling. This combination of functionality, privacy, and energy efficiency made FindLife’s app a seamless addition to the festival’s tech offering. Ultimately, the partnership between FindLife and Tinderbox did more than solve the problem of lost friends—it reshaped the festival experience with greater connectivity, safety, and brand engagement. The successful rollout, with over 38,000 app downloads, set a new standard for digital innovation at live events.
