UEFA Europa Conference League Trophy
The UEFA Europa Conference League is a new European club football competition which will be played on Thursday nights alongside the UEFA Europa League. It aims to give more teams the chance of winning European honours and give more players the chance to experience European football, which will help to develop their footballing careers. Pentagram was responsible for the industrial design for the competition‘s new trophy. The design of the trophy was incorporated into the brand identity developed by Turquoise. The trophy consists of 32 hexagonal spines—one for each team in the group stage of the competition— twisting and curving from the trophy base. The curved shape of the spines was inspired by the flight of a football as it heads towards the goal—the ultimate moment of optimism for fans. The spines are connected at their base by a ring and hold a cup that is made from hand-brushed brass with a matte galvanic steel effect. The trophy, which is 57.5cm tall and weighs 11kg, was designed to look its best when held aloft, with the open structure of the spines providing transparency.
