The Defender Works V8 Conversion lets owners of a 2012 to 2016 Defender 90 or 110 bring their own vehicle to Defender's Classic division and have it rebuilt as a Works V8. Launched on 23 September 2026 and priced from £150,000, the conversion fits Land Rover's naturally aspirated 5.0-litre petrol V8, producing 405hp and 515Nm, paired with an eight-speed ZF automatic gearbox. It adds a new chassis, Bilstein dampers, Eibach coil springs, uprated anti-roll bars, links and bushes, and an Alcon braking system with four-piston calipers and larger discs front and rear. Inside, the transmission tunnel and gear selector are re-engineered, and each car carries exclusive Works V8 badging. Each Defender is first assessed by classic specialists, then converted by hand at the purpose-built Classic Works facilities in Coventry and Germany using genuine Land Rover parts. The conversion heads a wider upgrade programme for 2007 to 2016 Defenders that offers new steel and alloy wheels, suspension and braking packages, available for self-fitment, through retailers or at Classic Works. The idea is to keep cherished family and working Defenders on the road, with more performance and refinement, while preserving the character of the original.
