This spring, the economic effects of COVID-19 began to take hold, underscoring immense inequalities within the foundation of our country. The potential of a great number of small-business owners across the country risked being lost. Community institutions that have been instrumental to the country’s success were about to disappear. As a brand that champions those who strive to reach their potential, Hennessy felt a responsibility to help protect these businesses, many of which were not served by government relief funding. An initial $3 million grant—launched with a series of films in tandem with organizations experienced in the fight for equity (One Hundred Black Men, Asian American Business Development Center, Hispanic Federation)—provided immediate relief for businesses across the country. Our business with these owners remains unfinished. We’ll continue working alongside the Hennessy team to help fulfill a long term commitment to realizing their potential.
