The Shooting
Artículo 19 has launched The Shooting, a powerful campaign to mark the International Day for the Right to the Truth. Through a four‑minute short film and supporting outdoor and print work, the campaign symbolically depicts the violence faced by journalists in Mexico—where more than 200 have been murdered or disappeared since 2000, and 98% of crimes against them go unpunished. The film stages a confrontation between organized crime firing weapons and journalists “shooting” with cameras, underscoring the battle between silencing and truth. Building on last year’s El Último Viaje, the initiative calls for awareness, accountability, and protection of press freedom, urging the public to stand with those who risk their lives to defend the right to information.
