AO is a Danish family-owned company founded in 1914 and is today one of the leading wholesalers in the construction industry. Our ambition that "we lend a hand" is based on a deeply felt interest in understanding our customers' needs and being able to help them build Denmark. Therefore, our goal is to be part of the entire craftsman's customer journey both before, during and after construction and always on the installer's terms. (English translation + Google translate) Background AO is a Danish family-owned company founded in 1914 and is today one of the leading wholesalers in the construction industry. Our ambition that "we lend a hand" is based on a deeply felt interest in understanding our customers' needs and being able to help them build Denmark. Therefore, our goal is to be part of the entire craftsman's customer journey both before, during and after construction and always on the installer's terms. Therefore, coherent customer experiences have always been vital for AO. AO´'s digital platform forms the foundation and ensures that the customer can float across physical and digital contact points and experience a consistent experience. For the past two years, AO has further developed digital self-service in our artisan shops. Previously, the AO app was a service for the customer outside the store. But now it's an extended arm inside the store, and it's never been easier to shop in an AO store. With self-service via the app, the customer can complete his order out at the shelf - it's just scan & go. Today, more than one in four customers complete their order in the store, to the benefit of both customers and sales staff. Because when salespeople do not have to spend most of their time completing transactions and receiving payments, they can to a greater extent bring their professionalism and skills into play to make a difference for customers. But that does not change the fact that the store's opening hours are limited and our digital solutions are available 24/7. Because in a busy everyday life with lots of tasks, time and flexibility become more and more important for the craftsmen. So how can we extend the store's opening hours to also be 24/7 - that's the background for AO365. Solution In 2020, AO has worked to extend the store's opening hours to also be 24/7. In May 2020, we launched our first AO365 store, where the craftsman can in an easy and simple way use self-service outside the normal manned opening hours and shop in our stores - when it suits them 24 hours a day - 7 days a week on all 365 of the year days. With AO365, the craftsman has a digital key to open the store. All they have to do is use their AO app. With it, they open the store, shop the things they need via our existing self-service solution and close the store again in the same app. If the craftsman comes to the shop during opening hours, the app is in normal self-service mode. If the craftsman arrives outside opening hours, the app is in AO365 mode and has contact with the store's locks, alarms and lighting. So when the craftsman swipes to open the store, the store alarm automatically turns off, the light in the store turns on and the door grille rolls up and the doors open. And visa versa when the craftsman swipes to close the store. With AO365, AO takes the next step in the omni-channel ecosystem we want to create for all value chain stakeholders. Our warehouse is the customer's warehouse, and the customer can take the B2C customer into the store, for example to choose a toilet or shower system. The supplier can customize their items on the shelves when it suits them, and the employee also uses the app to open and close the store. Today, AO365 is available in 24 AO stores, and we are currently rolling out. two stores every other week. In parallel, we are working on new AO365 concepts such as fully self-service pop-up stores for major construction projects. Result The fact that the craftsmen have welcomed the new initiatives can be read directly in AO´'s increased market shares. In 2020, AO had a revenue growth of 14.4% and rounded for the first time a revenue of over DKK 4 billion. All physical and digital contact points have experienced growth in 2020 despite stricter measures to keep the artisan shops open. Especially self-service via app in the stores and AO365 has been popular, and digital revenue grew by DKK 460 million. DKK to a share of AO´s total revenue of 45.4% = 1.86 billion. We are satisfied that the development of the value proposition in our artisan shops has led to an increase in sales and that we still do not see any cannibalization from our sharply increasing digital turnover. The strong omnichannel offering has contributed to a positive growth in profit and profit for 2020 of 31.1%. https://ao.dk/services/koncepter/ao365
