UX and Design Making City Bikes Faster
How can UX and design make city bikes faster, you might think. Isn't it all about battery, engine power, and good legs? The short answer is no. It is also about how easy and fast you can find a free bike, how easily and quickly you can book it and unlock it and how easily and quickly you can return it when you have finished using it. And of course, how easily and quickly you can join the many thousands of Copenhageners who have already taken the city bike. The city bike is thought to be the "fourth leg" of public transport, which can both reduce congestion and promote a healthy and green mode of transport. For the tourists, the city bike is an experience. For the Copenhageners - and the fund behind the city bike - it is a means of transport that is able to change traffic habits, a solution that is better than the alternatives. Fast, inexpensive, reliable, and reliable. Here are the displays on the city bikes the Achilles heel of that ambition. Unfortunately, the city bike has repeatedly been subjected to massive vandalism with hundreds of smashed city bike displays. That's why City Bike wanted a screen-free bike - and therefore an updated, user-friendly and intuitive app that can make screens on the bikes superfluous. That was the task. Solution The user experience is simple and direct. It is part of a means of transport that must work smoothly every day. From logo and design language to navigation, user flows, and pricing structure. Simple and straightforward - so the digital controls support fast everyday use - every day. And of course uniform across iOS, Android, and web. The city bike has a new identity that is recognizable and adds nicely to the Metro and S-train language while giving the app some new opportunities to give the user an overview of nearby bicycles nearby, past routes, consumption, and much more. Even the price structure is tightened, so it's easy to see how cheap an alternative the city bike is to all other battery-powered vehicles in town. Always 0 kroner in start-up and minute prices down to 42 øre. Result The solution makes keywords like "easy" and "fast" a reality. Users can easily and quickly find a free bike, create a user, view payments, and more. We can't cut the time of the 30-40 minutes the user is sitting on the bike on average, but we have made it much easier to find, book and deliver the bike with the new app. That time can't get much shorter. 20,000 have so far downloaded the new app, although it is still possible to use screens on the older ones of the city bikes, and the feedback is very positive. The final verdict comes with the spring because when it's winter, it's largely the City Bike's 6,000 regular subscribers who try the solution. https://dwarf.dk/
