Enabling nurses in their daily lives The Danish Nurses Organisation needed a strong digital platform to work as the center of their online activity, uniting all its members on one platform. They came to us to help them build a platform to meet the demands of the dynamic life of a nurse. The Purpose As the single largest union for nurses in Denmark, DNO wanted to provide its members with as much relevant information as possible. This meant building a new site that could accommodate a substantial amount of information, but also an integrated self-service portal, personalized for each member, to help them in their daily lives. The new site was a large step in their strategy towards digital transformation, aimed at gathering all their members and all of their information on one platform. The Approach DSR wanted their site to function as both a corporate site and as a personalized universe for their members. We initiated a large scale research phase – both to determine the members’ specific needs and to determine how to present the large quantity of information available. From the research phase we immediately started designing and building testable prototypes, as well as we started working on the multiple high-level integrations to collect and gather the information needed for each individual member. Development We built the site architecture based on a series of user tests of our prototype, with a clear focus on findability and user experience. The site also needed to be able to handle DNO’s 80 subsites, and we added to that an editor functionality that enabled large-scale editing across the multiple subsites. Design We wanted to create a smoother experience with the new site. We created a magazine ‘look’, which meant we had to combine the already established DNO visual guidelines with a cleaner, and less text-heavy look, so the site’s general feel was lighter and easier to read and navigate. User tests We user-tested continually throughout the process to get as close to the target group as possible. Our main findings revealed that the users usually used the site to find and share information, get practical information, and find current events, which we then put special emphasis on in the design of the site. The Solution Working closely alongside the DNO team, we delivered a dynamic and user-friendly site, that functions both as a center of information, and as a self-service portal. The DNO members can, via their login, access their personal records, view and participate in debates, and find and sign up for new courses, all in a user-friendly site. We also implemented a setup that helps the editors manage the 80+ subsites easily, and help them keep the site up to date. https://adaptagency.com/cases
