30 years after the fall of the wall, we joined forces with the Berlin DDR Museum to let a new generation overthrow the wall - now in Augmented Reality. We built three iconic stretches of the wall in the Minecraft Earth - AR sequel to the popular game. Here, players could experience the wall on a 1: 1 scale in Augmented Reality. And to gamify the experience, they could even help to topple the wall with the iconic notch that belongs to the much-loved gaming world. Så med et enkelt klik kunne de fremkalde en historisk korrekt model af Berlinmuren i fuld skala. På dens oprindelige placering — eller hvorend du er. ENTERTAINMENT MEETINGS EDUCATION Together with the DDR Museum, we created an exhibition of comprehensive learning material aimed at 6-9 classes. The gaming experience was used to create interest in the historical subject, and from here dive into an immersive teaching course on the return of border walls in our time. AN ENLIGHTENING AR EXPERIENCE IN MINECRAFT EARTH To create a frictionless experience, we used Minecraft's own Buildplates - a social feature that lets players invite their friends to experience their creations side by side. So with a single click, they could evoke a historically correct model of the Berlin Wall in full scale. In its original location - or wherever you are. It also meant that we had to build on exactly the same premises as any teenager in the game: By mining the materials in the parallel world. Because to make the wall historically and architecturally correct, we had to spend over 300 hours to find the exact building blocks.
