Silent Night
Erste Group’s Christmas campaign, "Silent Night," tells the inspiring true story of how the world’s most recorded song came to be. Created by Jung von Matt Donau, the three-minute film takes us to Oberndorf, Austria, in 1818, where priest Joseph Mohr and music teacher Franz Xaver Gruber, moved by the struggles of their community, compose "Silent Night" on Christmas Eve. The film follows the song’s journey, from its first performance in a small church to its global impact, including key moments like its broadcast during World War I and its reach into space in 1973. With rich historical details, the film marks a new chapter in Erste’s Christmas tradition, shifting from animation to live-action. Developed in collaboration with the Silent Night Society, the campaign launches on November 19, 2024, across Erste’s key markets in Austria, Hungary, Croatia, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Serbia, and Romania, and will run on TV, print, and digital platforms.
