Protect Pride. Protect Democracy
ILGA-Europe, the European Pride Organisers Association (EPOA), and creative agency Hey Honey have launched “Protect Pride. Protect Democracy,” a campaign that reframes attacks on LGBTQ+ Pride events as threats to the fundamental democratic freedoms of assembly, expression, and visibility. Timed to coincide with Pride season, the campaign draws on findings from the State of Pride Report 2026 to highlight the increasing challenges facing Pride events across Europe and calls on European institutions to strengthen protections for peaceful public gatherings. Through a campaign film, social content, creator partnerships, and a public petition, the initiative encourages audiences to view the protection of Pride as essential to safeguarding democracy for everyone.
