Choppers Don't Come Cheap
The "Buy it for Life" campaign by Air Ambulance Charity Kent Surrey Sussex (KSS) was a record-breaking fundraising initiative launched in December 2023 to address a critical challenge: raising £1 million within three months to secure a new helicopter after their aviation partner faced financial difficulties. The campaign emphasized the life-saving role of KSS, which responds to over 3,300 emergencies annually with helicopters equipped as mobile emergency rooms. Developed by Join the Dots and Open Creates, the campaign employed a multi-channel approach, including radio, press, door drops, and inserts, targeting Kent, Surrey, and Sussex. The response was extraordinary, with over 13,948 donations raising £1.9 million in just four weeks. More than 2,100 donors contributed £100 or more, earning the opportunity to have their names inscribed on the helicopter. This milestone campaign united the community, garnered global attention, and ensured KSS could continue its vital mission of saving lives.
