For more than 75 years the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society funded research, patient support and advocacy, but its name only spoke to two of the more than 100 types of blood cancer. Awareness of the organisation sat below 5%, and its sprawling programmes, events and fundraising efforts did not read as one. The rebrand renamed the nonprofit Blood Cancer United and built a single identity that brings every patient, caregiver, donor and researcher under one banner. At the centre is a blood-drop emblem drawn from the "U" in United, a simple, scalable mark that stands for every type of blood cancer. A custom typeface, BC United Sans, a confident red palette and a clear, compassionate voice rooted in real patient stories carry the system across the website, social, email, fundraising events such as Light The Night, merchandise and out-of-home. The new name and identity launched on 28 August 2025, ahead of Blood Cancer Awareness Month. In 2026 the work won a D&AD Graphite Pencil in Brand Transformation / Strategy, with shortlists in Graphic Design, Writing for Design (Naming) and Brand Transformation.
