Eurovision Song Contest
NPO has confirmed it will broadcast the 2026 Eurovision Song Contest on NPO 1 in May, despite the Netherlands withdrawing from participation in the Vienna edition. The decision follows an announcement by AVROTROS, the body responsible for the country’s Eurovision entry, that it will not compete after reports that the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) will allow Israel to take part. AVROTROS cited “severe humanitarian hardship in Gaza, restrictions on press freedom, and political meddling during the previous Song Contest” as the reasons behind its withdrawal, while NPO maintains its commitment to airing the event for Dutch audiences.
