Maintaining Reddit's spirited identity was key, so Pentagram focused on creating a unified, intuitive, and global visual strategy. The project centered on updating Snoo, Reddit’s beloved mascot, by transitioning it to a 3D character to enhance its recognizability, alongside creating emoji-like variations. Additionally, a “conversation bubble” motif was introduced as the backbone of Reddit's visual language, emphasizing the platform's unique comment culture. This bubble theme influenced Reddit Display, a custom typeface that incorporates rounded shapes echoing Reddit's user interface. Motion principles were also developed to bring the bubble to life dynamically, enhancing clarity and navigation. With a simplified color palette, Reddit communities can now visually express themselves within a refined brand framework. These updates align with Reddit’s eclectic, candid, and vibrant nature, positioning it as the “heart of the internet” for the future.
