The App That Created a Community
Taikoo Place in Quarry Bay, Hong Kong, hosts over 300 multinational corporations and 30,000 office workers. Its developer, Swire, wanted to create more than a workplace – they wanted a cultural neighbourhood and thriving community. Powered by MXP, our pioneering digital system for the next generation of malls, places and destinations, we devised a set of make-you-smile digital tools to link people, brands and place. The MXP app creates a connected digital eco system that provides daily recommendations and activities (the first of its kind in a business hub), a website that provides rich, engaging content, and digital kiosks that guide visitors to the facility’s shops, services and activities. The app creates an integrated platform that is the social heart of the community, linking and engaging people with stories, chat, marketplaces and smart daily recommendations. We developed a complementary strategy to transform Taikoo Place itself using playfulness and storytelling. This features animations and hand drawn style, commissioning international artist Kavel Rafferty to create illustrations inspired by life in Taikoo Place. The illustrations helped provide a creative approach that represents the heart of the brand positioning: Not Any Place – Taikoo Place. The result is a vibrant community in looks and feel, supported by a digital ecosystem designed for its needs. Through the power of MXP and bespoke digital touch points, the Taikoo Place community is now smarter, agile, totally connected and fully immersive. Agency: Landor & Fitch
