The Whittaker's Christmas Window
After the closure of Smith & Caughey's ended Auckland's tradition of Christmas windows, Whittaker's and Bastion Shine opened a free, hand-made window on Ponsonby Road, opposite the Franklin Road lights, from 6 to 22 December 2025. The 2m × 2m paper factory told an imaginary origin story of the Chocolate Pod through hand-painted characters, moving production systems, rotating products and a countdown clock to Christmas Day. It took more than 1,000 hours of paper engineering, illustration and fabrication, and positioned Chocolate Pods as a premium Christmas gift.
