“Apicum” is a sound and visual creation that explores the various micro-universes of an ecosystem. The apicum region is a type of “saltwater marsh”—sandy terrain that forms within mangrove zones, a signature vegetation of the northeastern coast of Brazil. Situated between the mangrove forest and the hillside, it is unsuitable for agriculture but harbors rich biodiversity. The piece was created through research, field recording, and creative manipulation of sound and image, structuring a narrative driven by the natural events of the landscape and local wildlife.
