Transforming Big Data into User-Friendly Products
In collaboration with New York-based Utopus Insights, we transformed the power of one of the world's most advanced analytics tools into attractive and intuitive products. The ambition is to make it easier and cheaper to produce renewable energy and thus hopes to unlock the enormous potential of sustainable energy production. Utopus Insights now offers a user-friendly and visually inviting platform that allows people from all over the world to understand, anticipate, and optimize the daily production of green energy. The solutions already monitor tens of thousands of wind turbines and solar panels, creating Big Data insights on a massive scale. The programs are designed to scale seamlessly from large operating centers to a mobile device in the hands of the technician who works 100 feet above the ground. This approach has effectively moved Big Data out of the big data centers and into the hands of the people who actually make the important decisions about energy production every single day. With the many different requirements for complexity and simplicity in each part of the solutions, we established a set of principles that should act as guiding principles for the experience and design that we ultimately wanted to offer users. Utopus Insights' software package has been launched gradually over 12 months, but the common denominator of all the releases has been an impressive reception from users. On average, the user base for each product grows by 10% month by month. And more importantly, the first satisfaction surveys show that the intuitive interfaces hit the right nerve in users. The product satisfaction rate is on average 95% and the products have an average Net Promoter Score of 47, indicating a very high degree of loyalty to the program package. The redesigned software package is just the beginning of Utopus Insights. Over the next decade, it is expected that 45% of earnings in the electricity industry will be based on digital transformation, which is why Utopus' products have enormous economic potential.
