Artist-In-Residence
The Critical Mass Artist-In-Residence Program (CM:AIR), founded by artist Shantell Martin and Critical Mass, is a pioneering artist-agency collaboration aimed at revolutionizing industry standards. By addressing artist-brand exploitation through equitable contract negotiations and intellectual property rights, CM:AIR empowers artists with tools and opportunities while fostering transparent creative collaborations. The program, launched with a Webby Award-nominated site and an impactful Artist Roundtable, has sparked critical conversations and provided a platform for artists to voice their challenges and experiences. At events like SXSW and the Fast Company Innovation Festival, CM:AIR continues to advocate for artist rights, challenging traditional marketing norms and paving the way for a fairer creative landscape.
