Grand Master Meltdown
Leap Year Post editor Austen Deery brings an unfiltered look at skate culture in Grand Master Meltdown, a short documentary by Benjamin Mulinkosson and Shanghai skate brand AVENUE & SON. Shot during the Aranya Grand Masters Festival, the film captures skateboarding beyond tricks and contests—showcasing it as an art form, a lifestyle, and a shared experience of joy and camaraderie. Edited with minimal budget and a tight turnaround, Deery embraced his outsider perspective to tell an honest story, earning a Vimeo Staff Pick. Featuring cinematography by Yu Yue, the film highlights the raw energy of the skaters and their community.
