Why?
Matt Lambert’s short documentary “Why?”, created with Bronski Beat and London Records, reimagines the band’s 1984 LGBTQ+ anthem as a 40th-anniversary reflection on resilience, activism, and community. Built from archival and self-shot footage, the film revisits the song’s original themes of resistance to homophobic violence while reframing them for a contemporary context. Blending protest imagery, personal perspectives, and moments of collective joy, the documentary becomes both a historical record and a call to action, emphasising the ongoing struggle for LGBTQ+ rights and the importance of intergenerational understanding and solidarity.
