Air Response is a drone logistics network built by CVS Health to keep care moving when extreme weather cuts off normal routes. The programme covers three jobs: middle-mile transport of medicines between distribution centres, hospitals and clinics; disaster response; and community emergency support, with AED, naloxone and epinephrine delivery linked to 911 dispatch being explored. Drones carry up to 20 pounds in reusable, temperature-controlled containers, and a patent-pending intake system lets payloads arrive via rooftops or drive-through points. The approach was tested after Hurricanes Francine, Helene and Milton, when reconnaissance teams assessed 21 sites in Florida, spotted a lost specialty facility so patient orders could be rerouted, and helped locate colleagues cut off by outages. Co-developed with SkyfireAI and Thales and revealed publicly at XPONENTIAL 2026, it now runs pilots across 30 states.
