Pedestrians
Spain’s Directorate‑General for Traffic has launched “Pedestrians,” a Holy Week awareness campaign highlighting the dangers of mobile phone use while crossing the street. With one in three pedestrians admitting to frequent phone use while walking, and 86% acknowledging reduced attention at crosswalks, the campaign underscores how distraction can have fatal consequences — 320 pedestrian deaths were recorded in 2024. The 30‑second spot depicts a man absorbed in his phone, oblivious to surreal scenes around him, until distraction leads to a car impact. Distributed across TV, radio, print, digital, and social from March 24, the initiative delivers a stark warning: staying glued to a screen at the wrong moment could mean losing everything.
