The World’s Only Tweeting Escalator
In February 2018, Finnish manufacturer KONE brought the world’s first tweeting escalator to life by connecting their escalators to the cloud. This allowed them to monitor performance, making maintenance predictive and intelligent. To make this complicated IoT service more accessible and engaging, KONE translated real-time data from the escalator into readable and humorous tweets, providing the world with a unique window into the escalator's "thoughts." The campaign, which took place on Twitter, allowed people to follow the "inner thoughts" of an unnamed escalator in London. By leveraging Twitter’s platform, KONE created a playful, relatable, and engaging communication concept that simplified a complex service in a way that had never been done before, capturing the attention of a global audience.
