Chasing Light
Some projects start with answers, but this one began with questions about a culturally rich yet misunderstood Manhattan neighborhood. "Chasing Light" aimed to find common ground in Chinatown, New York, by creating a living portrait of its business, culture, tradition, and innovation. The project was guided by Wellington Chen, the Leica-wielding Executive Director of the Chinatown Partnership, who provided access and a vast photo archive. In collaboration with Sunday Afternoon, the creative partners and AR leaders, the documentary bridged old and new Chinatown, capturing residents across ages and professions through archival and new photographs. The story was published in CANAL Magazine, with AR chapters that brought the content to life. "Chasing Light" was featured on the cover of the 2023 CANAL Magazine, and the documentary debuted on NOWNESS as part of their "Portrait of a Place" series. Advertising for the film included interactive placements on Canal Street, allowing passersby to engage with the documentary and its AR features.
