Den danske dokumentar 'Stor som en sol' følger det danske rockband The Minds of 99. Efter to kritiker-roste albums er bandet i færd med deres tredje udgivelse; Solkongen. Filmen bevæger sig med rundt fra udsolgte koncerter til isolation i en bunker og i et langt trip på Bornholm. Alt i mens forsøger de at finde fodfæste i en brydningstid, både internt og i den verden de lever i.
