The Atacama RE-commerce project repurposes textile waste by offering discarded garments from major brands in Chile’s Atacama Desert for free, with consumers only covering shipping costs. Created by Artplan in collaboration with VTEX, Fashion Revolution Brazil, and Desierto Vestido, the initiative transforms fast fashion waste into opportunity, promoting sustainable consumption while raising awareness of the 39,000 tons of clothing discarded annually. By selecting, restoring, and redistributing these items, the project encourages a shift in fashion consumerism. The first drop sold out in under five hours, shipping to over 10 countries, with future drops planned to continue its mission. Launched in March 2025, the campaign spans fashion and public interest sectors with four media assets.
