The Multiple Sclerosis Association fights for a world without multiple sclerosis. MS is a complex disease, and there are significant differences in how affected patients are at various stages of the disease. Therefore, the association’s new website consists of three landing pages, making it easier for users to find the right content—naturally in compliance with WCAG guidelines. The different sections, "Knowledge," "Life with MS," and "Get Involved," are aimed at both patient groups, relatives, and volunteers. The Multiple Sclerosis Association faced a challenge that is familiar to many patient organizations: the desire to broaden the accessibility of their knowledge to people affected by a life-changing illness—in this case, multiple sclerosis. Additionally, the association wanted to give their website a visual overhaul to make it part of the overall brand identity and to create a solution that would make it easier to implement future digital strategies. With a clear vision to create great user experiences and ensure that information is easily accessible to everyone, no matter where they are in their disease journey, the Multiple Sclerosis Association chose to implement a multisite solution developed in WordPress. The association wanted to create a more inclusive and user-friendly online platform that could support patient groups, relatives, and volunteers. The goal was to deliver targeted information no matter where individuals are in their disease journey and to offer support throughout different stages of the disease. Additionally, it was crucial to address the unique needs of various patient groups through tailored lifestyle communication. By creating user journeys, the website was designed to meet the specific needs of different user groups at various stages of the disease, improving navigation and information accessibility. The WordPress multisite allows the association to manage multiple websites under one system, providing flexibility to tailor sub-sites for different content types, patient groups, and future expansions. Dedicated landing pages address the needs of users at different stages of the disease, including personalized lifestyle content on topics like diet, exercise, and mental health. The site complies with WCAG 2.1 AA accessibility standards, ensuring it is user-friendly for individuals with disabilities, fostering digital inclusion. A secure, personalized member portal allows users to update personal information, access personalized content, and manage tasks like newsletter subscriptions. The system integrates with existing platforms (AD, CRM, Azure B2C) while maintaining data security.
