LG2 and the Lifesaving Society launched a powerful campaign for National Drowning Prevention Week to stress the importance of wearing lifejackets. Centered around “Ghost Jackets”—white-painted personal flotation devices placed at drowning sites—the campaign serves as a tribute to victims and a stark reminder of the risks of boating without a PFD. The initiative includes a 60-second TV and online ad telling the story of Alexandre Levasseur, who drowned in 2021, with his lifejacket donated by his family for the campaign. Ghost Jackets also appear in Canadian Tire stores and on outdoor retailers’ websites to reinforce the message at purchase points. With support from Transport Canada, the campaign aims to raise awareness through empathy, reminding boaters that wearing a lifejacket can save lives.
