The Shredmill
Most riders can't tell how protective their motorcycle gear really is until they come off, and by then the road has already delivered its verdict. For the Transport Accident Commission's 'Check Your Gear Before You Hit the Road' campaign, The Shredmill brings that test forward: a life-size treadmill belted with abrasive grit that simulates a road surface and shreds jackets, gloves and pants in seconds. Developed with MotoCAP, the independent program that rates motorcycle clothing, The Shredmill scales up the scientific abrasion test into a live demonstration. Real riders from across Victoria watch their own gear being tested and then see it next to a MotoCAP five-star equivalent, and every demonstration sends them to MotoCAP to check what they wear. The rig anchors the campaign's film, social and digital content, and it meets its biggest live audience at the Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix at Phillip Island.
