Selfie for All
For blind and visually impaired travellers, taking a good holiday selfie usually means relying on someone else. Selfie for All is a world first in accessible tourism from Visit Flanders: specially designed tactile tiles at 30 tourist spots across Flanders show visitors exactly where to stand. Each tile carries a NaviLens code that an app reads aloud, giving audio guidance plus information about the place and its history. The launch film takes an absurdist route. During a bingo night in a pub, a man starts getting selfies from his son, who is travelling, and the whole crowd soon becomes obsessed with each new picture from a faraway place. Then comes the reveal: the son is blind, and he could take a great selfie thanks to an inclusive selfie tile in Mechelen. Humour carries the story, and the twist turns the joke into a point about accessibility.
