Women’s Professional Baseball League Branding
Ahead of its August 1 launch, the Women's Professional Baseball League (WPBL) unveiled the names, uniforms, and visual identities of its four inaugural teams—New York Heights, San Francisco Firebells, Boston Hunters, and Los Angeles Queens—created by Canadian agency Arrivals + Departures. Each team's branding honours a pioneering woman connected to baseball history or its host city, translating qualities such as resilience, courage, precision, and leadership into bold, contemporary sports identities rather than literal historical tributes. The agency also designed performance-focused uniforms featuring subtle historical references woven into the typography, colours, and detailing. The launch has been met with strong enthusiasm, with the first merchandise release selling out, reflecting the league's mission to celebrate the overlooked legacy of women in baseball while establishing a distinctive new approach to sports branding.
