Transforming Hermes to Evri Brand
Evri is the new name and vision created for the reimagining of the biggest UK parcel delivery service, Hermes. A £1.5bn business that delivers more than 700m parcels for 80% of the UK’s top retailers to millions of customers all over the country. It supports the demands of the ever-evolving shopping habits and continues to revolutionise a UK retail industry that transformed in the pandemic world. The brand services diverse communities all over the UK, powered by a 30,000-strong workforce of fleet drivers. To continue to grow, the business needed a new brand to reflect a new customer-centric business strategy, powered by technology and embedded in the community. Superunion created a new name, brand, and visual identity, guiding the transformation of the Hermes brand to Evri, with advertising agency VCCP London launching Evri’s first ever TV advertising campaign. the ambition was to create a brand that captures the diversity of its customers and people, a brand that is for everyone, everywhere. Working with Evri’s team and its partners, the collaborative approach was innovative, highly visual and experimental and made to strengthen the brand in the years to come. Hermes’ revolutionary new brand name, Evri, represents the bringing together of a diverse multitude – whether that is different communities, people, or products. It stands for the individuals in the brand, its audiences, and the products that Evri can bring to its customers. With a new identity Superunion wanted to reflect the new customer-centric business strategy, to quite literally be the brand for everybody. Together with Monotype and the creative tech team, Superunion designed a generative tool that allowed the brand to create 194,481 bespoke logo artworks to be used for Evri’s brand estate and delivery fleet. Each character (A-Z) is designed to be stylistically different – every typographic character from A-Z was given 20 OpenType alternate-glyphs. The set includes numerals 0-9 with four variant sets and a single set of punctuation and symbols. An Open-Type style-alt typeface of this scale pushing the limits of what is technologically achievable and is rarely seen, remarkable for a brand of national statue. By using the generative design tool, every member of the Evri delivery team could design their own unique logo to take pride of place on their uniforms and fleet. A brand that both pulled together its people and respected their individuality simultaneously. Evri was launched by the brand campaign devised by VCCP London. It introduced a total revamp of the famous courier service, with media led by Mediacom and elevated through digital channels by Wolfenden. This launch saw the company’s first ever TV advertising campaign. It represents the ongoing transformation of Hermes UK – a business that has tripled in size over the last five years. The multi-million-pound campaign launched with a 30" hero film directed by Bafta nominee Charlotte Regan, 'New Arrival', centred around the relationship delivery drivers build with their customers. The TV spot debuted during Gogglebox and Coronation Street, series loved by the nation, and followed the story of an expectant mother and her husband as they journey towards the birth of their child and beyond. It aimed to remind viewers of the personal relationship between delivery drivers and their customers and inject emotion and relatability into the delivery service category, wrapping up with the strapline 'Evri delivery made for you'. The new Evri brand puts people and community at the heart of its business and champions the raw and real emotional connections drivers and households have up and down the country, every single day. A brand for everyone, everywhere.People spotlight
