Danish Beauty Remastered
To meet Denmark’s climate goals by 2030, the country must quadruple its use of renewable energy—equivalent to installing 16 new wind turbines each month. Despite a long-standing reputation as a pioneer in wind energy, recent years have seen growing resistance to new projects. Local opposition has halted many planned installations, and in 2023, more wind turbines were dismantled than erected. To address this challenge and shift public perception, Andel launched a creative campaign that brought the green transition into the heart of Danish cultural identity. Classic Golden Age paintings were reimagined with wind turbines seamlessly integrated into their idyllic landscapes. These modernized artworks were displayed across social media, public exhibitions, and printed posters. The campaign resonated widely, reaching three million Danes, generating 11.7 million video views, and prompting 10,000 poster requests in just a few weeks. Most importantly, it sparked reflection and dialogue: 52% of those familiar with the campaign said it made them consider the importance of green energy, while 30% reported increased interest in the transition to renewables. By merging heritage with innovation, the campaign reframed the conversation around local energy projects and reignited public engagement with Denmark’s renewable energy future.
