Slapp Suit
Greenpeace International’s “SLAPP SUIT” campaign, directed by Martin Stirling and produced by Partizan in collaboration with Don’t Panic, reframes Strategic Lawsuits Against Public Participation (SLAPPs) as a psychological horror film to expose their role in silencing activism. Starring Javier Bardem and Yasmin Finney, the film is set inside a Savile Row tailoring shop where corporate intimidation is visualised through the act of tailoring a suit, with fossil fuel companies’ influence embedded in the fabric itself through motifs like “GAG ORDER” and “CEASE AND DESIST.” As the narrative escalates, the suit becomes a physical instrument of control, symbolising fear, restriction, and the suppression of free speech. The campaign uses horror aesthetics rather than traditional advocacy storytelling to make the emotional and physical impact of legal intimidation visceral and immediate, ultimately ending with resistance as the protagonist breaks free from the imposed constraints, turning the message into a call for collective action and awareness.
