General Mills’ new campaign, You Better Be Playing, created by Goodby Silverstein & Partners, flips the familiar phrase “stop playing with your food” by encouraging parents to urge their kids to play—with Gushers, Fruit by the Foot, and Fruit Roll-Ups. Inspired by nostalgia and the playful nature of the snacks, the campaign highlights a desire to combat the decline in unstructured play among kids today. Through humor and cinematic “tough talks,” parents are shown modeling the fun of playing with food, reconnecting with their own '90s childhoods while promoting creativity and joy in their kids. Directed by Dante Ariola, the campaign offers a refreshing, adult-toned twist in a typically zany snack category.
