Momentum Energy has launched a playful new campaign featuring a charming “Momentum Muppet” named Hanna, brought to life by Photoplay director Stef Smith. Originally briefed as a 2D animated hand by the brand’s in-house team, Smith instead pitched a practical puppet—drawing on her background in puppetry on Giggle and Hoot—to create a more tangible, relatable character. Shot in-camera with two puppeteers, Hanna interacts with the lead character to add warmth and humour, reinforcing Momentum Energy’s supportive role in customers’ lives. The result is a light-hearted, character-driven spot that favours practical effects over post-production, delivering a more believable and emotionally engaging performance.
