In La Paz, the highest capital city in the world, 11 Cholitas are striving to break through sexism and prejudice by scaling mountains while wearing their traditional dress. Under the leadership of Jimena Lidia Huaylas, these Cholita Climbers, who once served as high-altitude cooks, have been conquering Bolivia’s snow-capped peaks since December 2015. Driven by their passion for the mountains and a spirit of resilience, the Cholita Climbers are determined to achieve the liberating experience of reaching lofty summits.
