NotMayo entered a crowded mayo market dominated by brand loyalty and skepticism about plant-based taste. Despite strong blind-test results, the brand needed to convince flexitarians it tasted just like real mayo. The “Mayo Haters” campaign recruited mayo-haters from Reddit for hidden taste tests, capturing their reactions when they unknowingly tried NotMayo—and hated it just as much as regular mayo. This proved its similarity to traditional mayo, driving buzz, social engagement, higher purchase intent, and increased brand trust.
