Trade Me Marketplace launched its ‘Goodbye Things’ campaign to celebrate the removal of success fees for casual sellers, using a comedic rewrite of James Blunt’s iconic ballad, ‘Goodbye My Lover.’ The omnichannel effort, directed by Trevor Clarence and scored by Cam Ballantyne, follows Kiwis clearing out clutter—from treadmills to clothing—while singing goodbye to items they’re ready to sell. Developed by an agency village including Special, DARKHORSE, MBM, and TRA, the campaign spans TV, online video, social, and outdoor, supported by influencer content and Trade Me’s mascot, Kev the Kiwi. The initiative also removes bank transfer as a payment option and enhances buyer protection via Trade Me’s Ping platform, providing refunds up to $5,000 for items not delivered as promised.
